Obstacles
Throughout Walt Whitman's life he had faced many obstacles. Growing up Walt grew up to a poor family with many kids, which forced him to leave school at the age of eleven. When Whitman had released Leaves of Grass he had suffered from a lot of criticism from many people and writer's, because of the content of his book. He had also been rejected by many publishing companies because of this money. Later in life most of his obstacles where family related. During the Civil War his brother George was captured by the confederates and his brother Andrew had died soon after that form Tuberculosis caused be alcoholism. In 1873 Walt had suffered a stroke which forced him to live with his brother George in NJ. To add to that his mother had fell ill and died later that year. That was one of the last major conflicts Walt faced before his death in 1892
